Villu Tamme (born November 2, 1963 in Tallinn ) is an Estonian punk musician and poet .

life and work

Tamme graduated from high school in Tallinn in 1981 and then trained as an electrician, which he completed in 1985. Since 1982 he has performed with the Estonian punk band Velikije Luki , in 1986 he founded what is now the best-known Estonian punk band JMKE , on which he is responsible as a guitarist and singer . In 1989, JMKE was the first Estonian band to sign a foreign record deal. Stupido Records in Finland released the single Tere, perestroika ( Hello, Perestroika ) at the height of the Singing Revolution . This was later followed by a record deal with TUG Records in Germany, where the band was seen as the "figurehead of the Estonian rock scene". In Estonia, Tamme has worked with Tõnu Trubetsky for a while and has performed with him.

In order to earn a living, Tamme worked in various professions - as a stoker, carpenter and decorator, but also in radio and television.

Tamme has published two collections of poetry, mostly composed of the lyrics of his band. The criticism drew parallels to Contra several times , especially the neologisms of the author, who thus stood in a tradition of Johannes Aavik and Ado Grenzstein , were highlighted .
