Vilmantas Tamošaitis (born April 20, 1966 in Kalvarija ) is a Lithuanian brigadier general who is currently working as an inspector general in the Ministry of Defense . From 2011 to 2016 he was Chief of Staff of the Lithuanian Armed Forces .

Life

The current general was born in 1966 in the south of what was then the Lithuanian SSR .

Military career

Promotions

Vilmantas Tamošaitis has served in the Lithuanian Armed Forces since 1992. In 1995 he graduated from the Lithuanian Military Academy General Jonas Žemaitis , in 2000 he completed further training at the Command Academy of the Armed Forces and in 2008 he completed a master's degree at the Air University of the United States Armed Forces . In the same year Tamošaitis was active as a brigade commander and promoted to colonel. From 2011 he was Chief of Staff of the Lithuanian Armed Forces - a year later he was promoted to Brigadier General. In 2016 he was transferred to Germany as a military attaché.

Private

Tamošaitis has been married to Sandra Gruzdzevičienė since 2016. In addition to his mother tongue, he speaks German, English and Russian.
