Ulli Baum

Ulli Baum (born October 25, 1958 in Hamburg ) is a German jazz musician (vocals, composition, also guitar).

Career

Baum studied jazz singing with Silvia Droste and Judy Niemack and composition with Sigi Busch and Erwin Koch-Raphael . Baum first sang in the jazz choir Hello Music . Since 2003 the baritone has been the leader and singer of the a cappella quartet Blackbird . After working with the Rainer Schnelle Trio, with whom his debut album Joy & Spirit was created, Baum initially concentrated on big band swing and performed with the Jomfru Fanny Big Bandfrom Denmark. In 2006 he and his quartet with pianist Leonid Volskiy, drummer Konrad Ullrich and bassist Felix Weigt presented the album Joy & Spirit . He is currently performing in the Trio TreeCole with saxophonist Carin Hammerbacher and double bass player Manfred Jestel from the Bobcats , but also in a duo with Leonid Volskiy. He is still active as a rhythm teacher.
