Vilson (born April 3, 1989 in São Gonçalo ; full name Vilson Xavier de Menezes Júnior ) is a former Brazilian football player .
Career
Vilson played for Madureira Esporte Clube in his youth . He played his first professional games for CR Vasco da Gama . After he was relegated from Série A in 2008 with Vasco , he succeeded in direct resurgence with his club as a master of Série B in 2009. Vilson then went to EC Vitória . After he won the Bahia State Championship with Vitória in the first half of 2010 , he moved to Grêmio Porto Alegre . With this club he reached the second round of the 2011 Copa Libertadores . At the beginning of 2013 he was transferred from Grêmio in exchange for the Argentine international Hernán Barcos to Palmeiras São Paulo and qualified in the first half of the year with Palmeiras as the table sixth of the regular state championship season for the knockout phase of the state championship of São Paulo , where he was eliminated Quarter-finals on penalties against first division club Santos .
On August 29, 2013, Palmeiras announced that Vilson would move to VfB Stuttgart . However, the Stuttgart sports director Fredi Bobic stated three days later that the immediate transfer had failed. Instead, he moved to Cruzeiro Belo Horizonte at the end of the year . However, he terminated the contract after the state championship was held, after he did not play in it. It was not until September of that year that he signed a new contract with AA Ponte Preta . At Ponte Preta he stayed without assignments until the end of the year. The cause was chronic tendinitis in the left knee. He was signed at the beginning of 2015 by SE Vitória , which loaned him to Chapecoense .
After Vilson went on loan to Corinthians São Paulo in early 2016 , the club took over in July 2017 despite ongoing injury complaints. In the 2017 and 2017 seasons, Vilson did not play any more, so he ended his active career at the end of 2018. At Corinthians he was immediately able to work as a football manager.
