Vincent Heinrich Mann
Vincent Heinrich Mann (born September 18, 1818 in Rostock ; † June 27, 1889 ibid) was a German lawyer and judge at the Higher Appeal Court for Mecklenburg , later President of the Senate at the Higher Regional Court.
Life
Vincent Heinrich Mann was born as the second child of the businessman and later Commerce Councilor Johann Bernhard Mann and his wife Sophie Charlotte, née Kaemmerer. Johann Bernhard Mann comes from the Rostock line of the Mann family, whose progenitor was the tailor Sigismund Mann (1687–1772) and from whose later Lübeck branch Thomas Mann comes.
Vincent Heinrich Mann studied law at the University of Rostock from April 1837 after his school education and moved to the University of Göttingen for the winter semester . In the following summer semester he moved to the Friedrich Wilhelms University in Berlin . From 1839 until completing his studies in 1840, he studied at the Grand Ducal University of Baden in Heidelberg . In Rostock he became a member of the Corps Hanseatia Rostock founded in 1837 and also in Heidelberg he joined the Corps Hanseatia there. Date of legal doctorate and first job are unknown. Vincent Heinrich Mann was a member of the city council of Rostock from 1845 to 1864 and from 1857 also worked as a syndic for the city. In 1864 he was appointed to the higher appeal court in Rostock as a court advisor. In 1879 the Courts Constitution Act was implemented and a higher regional court was established for Mecklenburg, which had its seat in Langen Strasse in Rostock. In 1887 Vincent Heinrich Mann was appointed Senate President here.
In addition to his professional activity, Vincent Heinrich Mann published in magazines on Rostock's urban history. These treatises focused on aspects of the older history of the city, such as the princely castle and the sons of Prince Borwin , as well as topics relating to the history of the church and contributions to the history of the city's administration and the financial constitution. In 1883 he was one of the founding members of the Rostock Society for Antiquities , on whose board he was elected.
Vincent Heinrich Mann was married to Elise Scheel since 1846. The couple had no children.
Honors
The Grand Duke Friedrich Franz III. awarded him the Grand Commander's Cross of the House Order of the Wendish Crown in 1888 . On April 2, 1889, Vincent Heinrich Mann was granted honorary citizenship of the Hanseatic City of Rostock on the occasion of his 25 years of service at the highest court in Mecklenburg .
