Vincent Lloyd-Jones

Sir "Harry" Vincent Lloyd-Jones (born October 16, 1901 , † September 23, 1986 ) was a Welsh attorney who was appointed a judge at the High Court .

biography

Lloyd-Jones grew up in Llangeitho, Ceredigion . His father was a grocer, he had two brothers, one of whom, Harold, died during the Spanish flu in 1918. His brother Martyn was the famous evangelical preacher. Vincent Lloyd-Jones studied at St Marylebone Grammar School , University College London and Jesus College (Oxford) . He was an exhibitioner at Oxford and obtained BA degrees in English (1923) and law (1924). He was also president of the Oxford Union Society in the summer semester of 1925 . He was appointed to the bar by the Inner Temple Bar Association in 1926 and practiced on the Wales and Chester Circuit . In 1949 he became a crown attorney . Other offices were the Recorder of Chester (1952-58) and Cardiff (1958-60).

Lloyd-Jones was appointed to the High Court Judge on January 11, 1960. There he was assigned to the Probate, Divorce and Admiralty Division . Simultaneously with this appointment he received the customary knighthood . In 1960 he became an honorary fellow at Jesus College and in 1962 at University College London. He retired in 1972 and died in 1986.
