Marquis made his debut in the Freestyle World Cup on January 10, 2004 , where he took 6th place in the Moguls competition in Mont-Tremblant and immediately won the first World Cup points. At first he could not confirm this success: In winter 2004/05 a 13th place was his best result, in winter 2005/06 it was only a 42nd place. Then he found the connection to the world elite again. On January 13, 2007, he was second in the dual moguls competition of Deer Valley , which was equivalent to the first podium finish.
On February 2, 2008, Marquis won the first World Cup in Deer Valley. At the end of the season, three further podium places resulted in third place in the discipline ranking. Marquis was similarly successful in the following 2008/09 season. After a win on January 24th, 2009 at Mont Gabriel, a total of five top 10 results followed, which in turn resulted in 3rd place in the discipline ranking. At the 2009 World Championships in Inawashiro , he won the Moguls bronze medal, while finishing fourth in the dual Moguls competition.
With a 2nd place Marquis qualified for the 2010 Winter Olympics. At the Olympic competition in Cypress Mountain , he just missed a medal in fourth.
