Vincenzo Zucconelli

Vincenzo Zucconelli (born June 3, 1931 in Jolanda di Savoia ) is a former Italian cyclist and national champion in cycling .

Athletic career

Together with Dino Bruni and Gianni Ghidini, Zucconelli won the silver medal in the team championship in the road race at the 1952 Summer Olympics in Helsinki. In the individual Olympic race won by André Noyelle , he finished 6th.

In 1951 he won the Gran Premio della Liberazione, one of the most important international one-day races for amateurs in Italy. In the same year he set an hour record for amateurs with 43,524 kilometers driven . In 1952 he was also able to win the Italian championship for amateurs.  

He was active as a professional cyclist from 1954 to 1959 and rode for the Legnano cycling team during this time . His greatest success as a professional was the victory on the 11th stage of the Giro d'Italia in 1955 , in the final classification he was 61. A year later he was eliminated in his second Giro.
