Dino Bruni

Dino Bruni (born April 13, 1932 in Portomaggiore , Italy ) is a former Italian cyclist . He was one of the best amateurs in cycling in the 1950s.

As early as 1950, Dino Bruni became the Italian junior champion after starting cycling in 1948. In 1952 Bruni won the silver medal at the Olympic Games in the team time trial with Gianni Ghidini and Vincenzo Zucconelli . In the road race on the same 190.4 km long course, he was able to cross the finish line in fifth. In 1955 he was third in the road world championship , which took place in Italy that year. He only had to admit defeat to his two compatriots Sante Ranucci and Lino Grassi among the amateurs and crossed the finish line as a soloist 1:42 minutes behind. With that he brought his home country a great triumph with a purely Italian winners' podium . A year later, in 1956, he won two stages of the International Peace Tour . Also this year he took part in the Olympic Games , but could not continue the performance four years earlier.

In the autumn of the same year he signed a contract with the Italian cycling team Bianchi-Pirelli . There he was in 1957 his first win as a pro when criterion in Vezzola retract. In 1958 he won a criterion in Capri .

The following year he moved to the Italian racing team Ignis-Frejus , where he was allowed to contest the Tour de France for the first time in the same year and was able to win two stages there. In 1959 he won a stage of the Tour de Champagne . In 1960 he drove for the first time in the Giro d'Italia , the national tour of his home country, and won the first stage there. So he was able to wear the pink jersey for one day as the leader in the overall standings. He was also the first to cross the finish line in the two one-day races, Giro della Provincia di Reggio Calabria and Coppa Sabatini .

In 1962 Bruni switched to the Gazzola team . There he was able to win a stage of the Tour de Suisse and again a stage of the Tour de France in the first year . In 1963 he won the Coppa Sabatini again.

He ended his professional career in 1964.
