Vindobona is the Roman name for Vienna . In 1979 the DDSG ship Vindobona was built on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the First Danube Steamship Company (DDSG). The Vindobona then led a large fleet parade in Vienna. The foundation stone for the new shipping center at Handelskai 265 was also laid at this time. The ship was converted into the " Hundertwasser ship" in 1995 when it was taken over by the private company DDSG Blue Danube and since then has had a striking purple color, various gold balls and a special interior design. In addition, the previously partly open upper deck was converted into a closed saloon.
