Vinko Kandija

Vinko Kandija (born May 23, 1934 in Trogir ; † March 10, 2002 in Vienna ) was a Croatian handball coach .

Kandija, born in Trogir, was a co-founder of the Trogir handball club. He spent a large part of his career in Belgrade, where he won eight championship titles. Because of his good work, he was used for the Yugoslav women's national team between 1974 and 1979 . With this he was able to reach fifth place at the world championships in 1975 and 1978 . In the following time he worked for Hypo Niederösterreich before he joined SG Handball West Vienna . He led the Viennese to three titles and one cup victory. He also worked as a coach for the Austrian men's national handball team , with whom he rose to the A group of the World Cup in 1992.
