Vintilă Ivănceanu

Vintilă Ivănceanu (born December 26, 1940 in Bucharest ; † September 7, 2008 in Essaouira , Morocco ) was an Austrian theater director and writer of Viennese postmodernism of Romanian origin.

Ivănceanu grew up in Romania. He studied theater studies in Bucharest, Berlin and Vienna ; since 1970 he lived in Vienna. Ivănceanu was the founder of the Rhombos publishing house , writer, director, cyclist and cultural scientist in Vienna. His book “aus” was published in 1970 by Suhrkamp Verlag , his other books (such as “Sodom”) by Rhombos Verlag and Passagen Verlag . As a theater director he staged, among other things, Waiting for Godot by Samuel Beckett , Die Reichsgründer or Schmürz by Boris Vian and Himmel or Scheisse by Fernando Arrabal . He was a fan of deconstruction in the spirit of Viennese postmodernism.

Ivănceanu was married to the scientist and sustainability researcher Heidi Dumreicher. Her children are the filmmaker and scientist Ina Ivanceanu and the film producer Alexander Dumreicher-Ivanceanu.
