The purple-dotted sleeper goby ( Mogurnda adspersa ) is a 13 centimeter long freshwater fish from Australia from the family of sleeper gobies (Eleotridae).
distribution
The fish live in eastern Australia , in the Murray , Murrumbidgee , Lachlan , Darling and other rivers in the states of Victoria , New South Wales and Queensland . They prefer rocky or heavily overgrown stretches of water.
nutrition
The eleotridae live carnivor of worms , dragonfly larvae , Zuck- and mosquito larvae , small crustaceans and fish larvae.
Reproduction
With a length of 4.5 to 5 centimeters, the purple-dotted sleeper gobies become sexually mature. They are territory-forming . Spawning season is during the rainy season from November to March. During courtship, the male orbits the female with splayed fins and gill covers. The 280 to 1300 eggs are laid on a stone or in a cave ( substrate spawners ). The male guards the oval eggs until they hatch. The 3.5 to 4 millimeter long fry hatch after 3 to 13 days.
