Virgil von Helmreichen zu Brunnfeld (born September 29, 1805 in Salzburg , † January 6, 1852 in Rio de Janeiro ) was an Austrian miner , researcher and discoverer.
Life
Virgil Helm rich to Brunnfeld studied from 1824 to 1826 at the Mining and Forestry Academy in Schemnitz Geology and Montanistik . He then worked as a mining intern and from 1829 worked in various mining offices. From 1836 he worked for the Anglo-Brazilian Minas Geraes mining company, where he mainly dealt with gold mining . He became known for crossing the South American continent from Rio de Janeiro to Asunción and back; The purpose of this trip was to create a geological profile through South America.
