Virgilio Bellone

Virgilio Bellone SDB (born December 6, 1907 in Costigliole d'Asti , † March 25, 1981 in Turin ) was an Italian religious priest and musician .

Life

His father was Angelo Bellone , whose name is the State Scuola Media of Costigliole d'Asti . He received humanistic, theological and musical training in Valdocco . He went to the novitiate in Foglizzo in 1923 and took his vows in 1924 . After staying in Pinerolo , Chieri , Valsalice and Cuneo , he returned to Valdocco after his ordination in 1933. There he attended the Turin Conservatory.

From 1950 to 1953 he went to Belgium. There some of his compositions were broadcast on the BRF .

In 1954 he became a lecturer in choral composition and exercises at the “Giuseppe Verdi” Conservatory in Turin. Also from 1954 - until his death in 1981 he was director of the Accademia Stefano Tempia .

In 1968 he became responsible for the direction of music education courses in the city of Turin.

He is considered one of the greatest personalities in the Turin music world and received the title of Grand Officer of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Italy for his achievements , as well as the Merit Diploma of the Scuola della Cultura e dell'Arte and the Gold Medal for Public Education.

He was a member of the Marian Academy of Salesians, the Accademia Tiburtina in Rome and the Turin Diocesan Commission for Sacred Music. He was one of the editorial boards of numerous national and international music publishers.
