Vital Heynen
Vital Heynen (born June 12, 1969 in Maaseik ) is a Belgian volleyball coach. He worked as a coach at VfB Friedrichshafen until the beginning of 2019 . He is currently the head coach of the Polish men's national team .
Career
Heynen began his career as a player with Rovoc Rotem . He later also worked at Vasco Maasmechelen before moving to Noliko Maaseik . In his hometown, the setter was on the field for ten years before he initially took over the post of assistant coach in 2005 and became head coach a year later. Under his direction, the Belgian first division team won numerous championship and national cup titles. Maaseik was also regularly represented in the Champions League with Heynen . On February 27, 2012, the German volleyball association appointed the Belgian as the new head coach of the men's national team . Heynen succeeded Raúl Lozano , who was dismissed in November 2011 . In 2014 he led the national team to the bronze medal at the World Cup in Poland . After qualifying for the European Championship in September 2016, he ended his work at DVV. He succeeded Stelian Moculescu as coach of the German Bundesliga club VfB Friedrichshafen . At the same time he took over the Belgian men's national team . With Friedrichshafen he won the DVV Cup in 2017 and was German runner -up in the 2016/17 Bundesliga season . With Belgium he reached fourth place at the 2017 European Championships in Poland . Heynen was appointed coach of the Polish men's national team in February 2018 . In September 2018 he won the gold medal with the Polish team at the World Cup in Bulgaria / Italy .
