Vittorio Duse

Vittorio Duse (born March 21, 1916 in Loreto , † June 2, 2005 in Rome ) was an Italian actor and film director .

Life

Duse attended the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia from 1939 to 1941 , which he left with a degree in acting and was initially hired for smaller roles until he achieved his breakthrough in 1943 with Luchino Visconti's Ossessione . In the following years he was seen in several major films before establishing himself as a character actor in numerous films, series and television productions. He always took longer breaks and acted in genre films as well as in more artistically important works. Between 1954 and 1957 he directed three films based on his own script , but they did not attract any particular attention.

Towards the end of his long career he was also active in several international productions. For his role in Love, Vengeance and Cappuccino , he won the jury award at the World Film Festival .
