Viva Air Perú (also Viva Air) is a low-cost Peruvian airline . It is a sister company of the Colombian airline Viva Air Colombia and part of the Grupo Viva . This is a joint venture of the Irelandia Aviation Group , which has already founded airlines such as Ryanair , Allegiant Air , Viva Colombia and Tigerair , and the Mexican bus company Grupo IAMSA .
history
At the beginning of November 2016, Viva Colombia announced that it wanted to found a low cost airline in Peru, which would start operations in early 2017. For the time being, the Viva Air Perú fleet is to be equipped with two A320-200s from Viva Colombia. The airline received its Air Operator Certificate (AOC) for the transport of passengers, cargo and mail on February 5, 2017. On May 9, 2017, Viva Colombia carried out its first flight.
On June 20, 2017, during the Paris Air Show, Grupo Viva signed a letter of intent with Airbus to purchase 15 Airbus A320s and 35 Airbus A320neos . The letter of intent was converted into a firm appointment on December 22, 2017. The exact division of the aircraft between the two airlines Viva Air Perú and Viva Colombia is not yet known.
