Viva Air Colombia (formerly Viva Colombia ) is a Colombian low-cost airline . It was founded in 2008 by William Shaw in collaboration with Stanford University , the Mexican bus company IAMSA ( Viva Aerobus ), the Colombian Grupo Bolívar and Irelandia Aviation of the Ryan family.
On May 25, 2012, the airline operated its first flight as Viva Colombia. In 2016 it carried over 3.4 million passengers. With Viva Air Perú , the company founded a subsidiary in Peru in 2016.
