Gladys Lunn

Gladys Lunn ( Gladys Anne "Sally" Lunn ; born June 1, 1908 , † January 3, 1988 ) was a British athlete who had her greatest successes in middle-distance and cross-country running and in javelin throwing .

In 1930 she won in the Women's World Games over 800 meters .

In 1931 and 1932 she won the first two unofficial International Cross Country Championships . In 1934 she won for England starting at the British Empire Games in London over 880 yards as well as in the javelin throw and won bronze over 800 m at the Women's World Games.

At the British Empire Games in Sydney in 1938 , she won bronze in the javelin throw and reached the semifinals over 220 yards (the 880-yard competition had been withdrawn from the program).

Five times she was English champion over 880 yards or 800 m (1930-1932, 1934, 1937), twice in the mile run (1936, 1937) and in the cross country run (1931, 1932) and once in the javelin throw (1937).

Twice she set an unofficial world record over 1000 m and four times over a mile.
