Viva Aerobus (also VivaAerobus, VivaAeroBus or vivaaerobus) is a Mexican low-cost airline based in Monterrey and based at Monterrey Airport .

history

Viva Aerobus was a joint venture between Mexico's largest bus company Iamsa and Irelandia Aviation, a holding company for five low-cost airline lines including Ryanair . In 2016 Irelandia Aviation sold its shares in Iamsa for a profit.

In October 2013, Viva Aerobus ordered 40 Airbus A320neo and 12 A320-200 planes to replace the entire fleet of Boeing 737-300 planes by 2016. An option was also agreed to purchase 40 more Airbus aircraft. On May 14, 2015, the first A320-200 directly ordered by Airbus was delivered to Viva Aerobus.

Viva Aerobus serves Hermosillo , La Paz , Culiacán , Los Cabos , Acapulco , Chihuahua , Mazatlán , Mérida , Oaxaca , Puerto Vallarta , Tampico , Tuxtla Gutiérrez , Veracruz , Villahermosa , Reynosa , Torreón , Tijuana and Puerto Escondido from its four national hubs . Internationally there is a connection from Monterrey to Houston and from Mexico City to New York-JFK .
