The airport General Abelardo L. Rodríguez International is an international airport in Tijuana in the northwest of Mexico in the state of Baja California Norte . It was the main location of the first Mexican low-cost airline Avolar . Major Mexican airlines fly to the airport from various destinations in Mexico. The airport is operated by the Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico.
Incidents
- On July 9, 1965, the main landing gear could not be locked in the extended position of a Bristol Britannia 302 of Aeronaves de México ( aircraft registration XA-MEC ) when approaching Tijuana Airport. All 82 occupants, 9 crew members and 73 passengers survived the emergency landing unharmed. The aircraft was totaled.
