Vlado Šola (born November 17, 1968 in Prisoje near Duvno , Yugoslavia ) is a former Croatian handball player . His body length is 1.96 m.
Šola, who last played for the Croatian top club RK Zagreb and ran for the Croatian men's national handball team, was a handball goalkeeper .
Vlado Šola's family moved to Sesvetski Kraljevec, a district of Zagreb , early after his birth . At Budućnost Sesvetskog Kraljevca there, Šola started playing handball. Finally, he made his debut for RK Medveščak Zagreb in the first Yugoslav league, later he moved to RK Sisak. In 1996 the German Bundesliga club GWD Minden signed him; Šola was the first handball player to benefit from the Bosman judgment . In 1998 he moved on to the second division club SG Willstätt / Schutterwald, with whom he was promoted to the 1st handball league in 1999. In 2002 he moved to Chambéry Savoie HB in France, in 2004 to the top Hungarian club MKB Veszprém , with which he won the Hungarian championship in 2005 and 2006 and the Hungarian Cup in 2005. In 2006 he returned to his homeland, this time to the RK Zagreb, where he again won the national championship and cup in 2007 and 2008. By 2008, Šola let his career end.
In his career, Vlado Šola has played over 130 international matches for the Croatian men's national handball team. With his country he was world champion at the men's handball world championship in Portugal in 2003 and Olympic champion at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens. At the World Championships in Iceland in 1995 and in Tunisia in 2005 , he won silver each , in 2007 in Germany he was injured.
Šola became known in Germany mainly for his rust-red hair, which earned him the nickname Pumuckl . Today Vlado Šola is the goalkeeping coach of the Croatian national handball team.
Since March 2009 he has been assistant trainer and sports director at RK Zagreb.
