Vlasti ( Greek Βλάστη ( f. Sg. )) Is a village and a municipality in the municipality of Eordea  in the Greek region of Western Macedonia . The village was recognized as a rural community under the name Vlatsi in 1918 and changed names twice: From 1927 to 1928 the place was called Polyneri (Πολυνέρι), after which it was given the current name Vlasti. In 2010 Vlasti was united with four other municipalities to form the municipality of Eordea.

history

The settlement of the place is documented up to the Byzantine times, after the expulsion of the original population a settlement of Turks took place in the 15th century. From the 18th century onwards, Christians settled again, mostly Wallachians . The place gained great importance in the production of cheese and textiles. The economic consequences of the Second World War and the civil war that followed led to an emigration of the population to the big cities. In summer and especially during the holiday season, the place is seasonally inhabited, many former residents live in the houses and then sometimes take long journeys to work.

The place is known in Greece for the environmental festival "Festival of the Earth" (Γιορτές της Γης) and a music festival in honor of the patron of classical music Nikolaus Dumba , whose family came from the place.
