Vleuten-De Meern is a district and a former municipality in the Dutch province of Utrecht . It was formed on January 1, 1954 by the union of the three municipalities of Haarzuilens , Veldhuizen and Vleuten and part of Oudenrijn . On January 1, 2001, it was incorporated into Utrecht . At the time of the dissolution, Vleuten-De Meern had 22,110 inhabitants on 27.57 km². As early as 1995, the municipality had given up 6.81 km² with 1027 inhabitants to Utrecht. Today's district has around 48,000 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017).
