The Voßmecke , partly Vossmecke called, is a 2.8 km long, orographic left tributary of the Ruhr in North Rhine-Westphalia Winterberg , Germany .

geography

The Vossmecke rises about 1.5 km east of Silbach on the eastern flank of the Kuhlenberg at an altitude of 690  m above sea level. NN . Mainly flowing in northeastern directions through an unpopulated valley, the stream flows out at 584  m above sea level. NN in the Ruhr . With a height difference of 106 m, the mean bed gradient between the source and the mouth is 37.9 ‰. The 3.612 km² catchment area is drained via the Ruhr and Rhine to the North Sea.

nature and environment

The headwaters of the Vossmecke are located in the hillside moor “In der Strei”, from which several spring rivulets arise. The area has been designated as a nature reserve "In der Strei" and also as an FFH area of ​​the same name (DE-4717-311) since 1957 in changing delimitations, currently 49.8 hectares .
