history

The Vocal Concert Dresden was founded in 1993 by Peter Kopp as the Neuer Körnerscher Singverein . It has been operating under its current name since spring 2008. It is a mixed chamber choir, which mainly consists of graduates from the Dresden University of Music and former members of the Dresden Kreuzchor . The choir makes music both a cappella and with orchestras and instrumental ensembles. The cast is between 14 and 36 singers.

The repertoire of the chamber choir ranges from early music through romantic music to contemporary music. When performing baroque and classical works, the Vocal Concert Dresden works closely with the Dresden Instrumental Concert , an orchestra with original sound instruments . One focus is on projects on Saxon music history.

The choir has made guest appearances at renowned festivals such as the Leipzig Bach Festival , the Brandenburg Summer Concerts , the Dresden Music Festival and the Göttingen Handel Festival, as well as repeatedly in Italy, France, Poland, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands and the USA.

In Dresden he appeared in his own concert series and several times in concerts by the Saxon State Orchestra Dresden and the Dresden Philharmonic . Since 2001, the performance of Nine Lessons and Carols in the Loschwitz Church has been an annual highlight and has become an integral part of the choral tradition.

At the Halle International Handel Festival in 2008, the Dresden Vocal Concert could be experienced for the first time in a scenic opera production. The CD recordings of the chamber choir mostly contain first recordings.
