Volhaben is a district of the municipality of Ense in the district of Soest and is located on the northern slope of the Haarstrang between the Enser districts of Bilme and Oberense . Werl and Soest are the next largest cities. The Möhnesee recreational area is around 5 km away. Volhaben is one of the smaller districts of Enses and has 127 inhabitants.

The main livelihood in the village is agriculture, notable economic development has not been recorded in the last few decades. Agricultural properties and new buildings create a handsome overall picture.

In the course of the municipal reorganization on July 1, 1969, Volhaben was merged with 13 other independent towns to form the new municipality of Ense.
