Ruhne is a district of the municipality of Ense in the district of Soest , administrative district of Arnsberg , North Rhine-Westphalia .

Through the village of Ruhne

The district lies on the crest of the hair strand on the northern edge of the Sauerland. It is located a few hundred meters north of Bremen , Werl is about five kilometers away. The Kurfürstenhalle is the center of village life. The so-called Mucherkreuz is on the way towards Waltringen . It is reminiscent of the annual foot pilgrimage of the Mucher from Siegerland to Werl. In the center of the village there is a stylized bell tower with a solitary bell, as a memorial to the fallen of the two world wars.

In the course of the municipal reorganization on July 1, 1969, Ruhne was merged with 13 other independent locations to form the new municipality of Ense.

Surname

The name appeared as a rune in the middle of the 12th century . It can be interpreted as “settlement on a mountain cut”, related to (reconstructed) Germ. Rūn = “cut”, and refers to the location of the place on the hairline.
