Volkan Ünlü (born July 8, 1983 in Gelsenkirchen ) is a Turkish soccer goalkeeper .
Career
Ünlü began his career at 1. FC Gladbeck and SV Höntrop . In 1998 he switched to the youth team at FC Schalke 04 . From 2002 he played in the 2nd team for a year before moving to the first team. On March 6, 2004, Ünlü played his first Bundesliga match in the match between FC Schalke 04 and SC Freiburg due to an injury to Frank Rost . Three more games followed before he was replaced by Christofer Heimeroth . In 2005 he then moved to Beşiktaş Istanbul . There he could not assert himself and in January 2007 moved to Çaykur Rizespor . There, too, he could not assert himself and moved to Sivasspor in the summer of 2007 . After he was temporarily out of a club after the 2008/09 season, he signed a contract with the Dutch second division club MVV Maastricht in October 2009 until the end of the season. For the 2010/11 season he moved to Trabzonspor , from which he was immediately loaned to the third division club 1461 Trabzon . In October 2011 Ünlü returned to Germany, where the regional league team SG Sonnenhof Großaspach signed him up to 2012. After that, Ünlü was without a club and was looking for a new club, but kept fit at KFC Uerdingen 05 . On June 3, 2013 it was announced that Ünlü von Uerdingen was signed as a goalkeeper for the Regionalliga team. On January 22nd, 2014 the contract with the KFC Uerdingen was terminated again.
Ünlü continues to live in his hometown Gelsenkirchen.
