Volker Angres

Volker Angres (* 1956 in Hanover ) is a German journalist who currently works on the environmental program planet e. of the ZDF .

Life

Angres is a trained banker. After completing his master's degree in journalism, political science and education, he first worked as an editor and presenter for various ARD programs . In various positions at ARD and ZDF, he has accompanied business and environmental programs in particular. In 1990 he moved to ZDF, where he is head of the ZDF.umwelt editorial team within the ZDF main editorial office for economics, law, service, social affairs and the environment (HR WIRSSUM).

Angres has already received several awards, including the Environment Prize of the Labor and Environment Foundation of the IG Chemie-Paper-Ceramics , the Lina Hähnle Medal of the German Nature Conservation Union , the German Solar Prize , the Euronatur Environment Prize 2000, the German Business Film Prize (2nd place ) for the ARTE production “State Power and Energy”, as well as the Hugo Conwentz Medal - an award given by the Federal Association of Professional Nature Conservation. He is also a co-author of non-fiction books.

According to a report by the taz , Angres openly sided with the Mainz CDU in February 2007 from the ZDF environmental editorial team and in his editorial function in the debate about the construction of a coal-fired power plant in Ingelheimer Aue and supported the party with information with which From a climate perspective, he advocates extending the service life of nuclear power plants as well as the expansion of renewable energies. The amalgamation of his private opinion “as a citizen of Mainz” (Angres) with his position under public law has led to considerable resentment in the broadcasting company employing him.

Angres has been a member of the Board of Directors of Stiftung Warentest since April 1, 2012 .
