Volker Henning Drecoll

Volker Henning Drecoll (born November 16, 1968 in Langenhagen ) is a German theologian and church historian.

Life

Drecoll - son of a surveyor - attended the Kaiser-Wilhelm-Gymnasium in Hanover and studied theology at the Westphalian Wilhelms-University in Münster from 1988 to 1993 . In 1993 he passed his first theological exam here. In 1996 he received his doctorate on Basil of Caesarea , the important saint of the Eastern Church. In 1998 he completed his habilitation with the work The Origin of the Doctrine of Grace Augustine . He completed his vicariate from 1998 to 2000 in the St. Marien congregation in Osnabrück and at the St. Michael seminary in Hildesheim. He then passed his second theological exam and was ordained on June 25, 2000. From 2000 to 2001 he was a probationary pastor in the Ev.-luth. St. Antonius parish in Wagenfeld (near Diepholz ) active.

In 2001, Volker Drecoll received a Heisenberg grant from the German Research Foundation. From 2002 to 2003 he was a professor in Tübingen . Here Augustine's doctrine of grace formed a focus of his research.

Since 2004, Volker Drecoll has held a C4 professorship for church history with a focus on the old church / patristic at the theological faculty of the University of Tübingen . Here he also represents Christian archeology .

In April 2005 he was entrusted with the office of Ephorus of the Evangelical Monastery in Tübingen , in which he succeeded the theologian Eberhard Jüngel .

Volker Drecoll and Pastor Sabine Drecoll, b. Lehmann, married. The couple has a daughter (* 2003) and a son (* 2006).
