Volker Göbel

Volker Göbel (born January 9, 1955 ) is a former German soccer player. From 1973 to 1975 he played for the army sports club FC Vorwärts Frankfurt / Oder in the GDR Oberliga , the top division in GDR football .

Athletic career

Volker Göbel played his first league game at the age of 18 in the 1972/73 season when they met on the 18th match day between FC Vorwärts Frankfurt and 1. FC Magdeburg (1: 3). He came on in the 80th minute for center forward Michael Paschek . It remained in the one league use this season, he was also called up in nine GDR league games of the 2nd team of the FCV. At the beginning of the 1973/74 season, coach Gerhard Reichelt Göbel played in five league games, including one as a center forward on the 6th matchday for the entire duration of the game. Then Göbel played again in the 2nd team, where he was also placed in the remaining 16 GDR league games as a center forward. In the 1974/75 season Goebel played five games in a row in the league from the 11th day of the game. He was in the starting line-up four times and played two games over 90 minutes. In addition, he was used again in 16 GDR league games.

After the 1974/75 season Göbel was retired from FC Vorwärts Frankfurt and transferred to the Army Sports Association Vorwärts Dessau . He started off full of hope, played eight of the 13 league games in the first half of the season, but only scored two goals. In the second half of the season he was not called up, but took part in all eight league promotion games for which Dessau had qualified and scored four of the nine Dessau goals. The ASG missed promotion, but in the following four seasons Göbel was part of the attacking team of the ASG, because of the 88 league games during this period he played 80 games and was one of the most successful goal scorers of his team with 32 goals. In 1977 and 1978 he was ASG's top scorer with eight and nine goals respectively. Göbel's last GDR league season followed as early as 1980/81. He started her at the age of 25, but only played eight league games in the first half of the season, in which he scored two goals. After he was no longer used in the games of the GDR league in the second half of the season, the German Sportecho announced in the summer of 1981 that Volker Göbel had ended his active career.

Goebel had been active in nine seasons of GDR football, in which he had completed eleven games in the GDR Oberliga, but remained goalless. In the GDR league he scored 47 goals in 137 games. There are also eight promotion games to the league with four goals.
