Volker Uhlig

Volker Uhlig (born October 9, 1949 in Lichtenberg / Erzgeb. ) Is a German local politician ( CDU ). He was the district administrator of the Saxon district of Central Saxony .

Life and politics

Uhlig attended a polytechnic high school in Freiberg , which he graduated in 1966 after the 10th grade. After training to be a skilled metalworker in the Freiberg ironworks, he completed his basic military service in the National People's Army from 1968 to 1970 . From 1971 to 1983 he worked as an agricultural machinery and tractor fitter in an agricultural production cooperative and passed his master's examination during this time. Later he completed an extra-occupational course to become a graduate in administration (FH).

From 1983 to 2001 he was the full-time mayor of his home town of Lichtenberg. In 1989 Uhlig left the SED . After 1990 he was the district chairman of the Saxon City and Community Day for the municipalities of the Brand-Erbisdorf district and the Freiberg district . Since 1994 he has been a member of the district board of the Free Voters' Association Alliance of Independent Voters . In 1999 he was elected to the district assembly of the Freiberg district and was chairman of his parliamentary group there. From 2001 to 2008 he was the district administrator of the Freiberg district. Since August 1, 2008 he has been the district administrator of the district of Central Saxony, which was newly created as part of the Saxon district reform in 2008 . He left his post in 2015.

Uhlig joined the CDU in 2007. He is the current chairman of the shareholders' meeting of the Sachsen-Finanzgruppe .
