Volker Volkens (* 1943 in Kiel ) is a German art collector from Karlsruhe .

Private collection Iris and Volker Volkens

The private collection Iris and Volker Volkens comprises around 2000 objects, mainly paintings by the artist Horst Antes , original graphics from the field of Pop Art as well as pre-Columbian and indigenous art ( painting , textile art , sculptures ). Volkens' Mola collection of the Kuna is considered to be the largest of its kind in Europe with around 1500 pieces. Some of the works come from the private collection of the American ethnologist and collector Kit Kapp .

Volkens made exhibits from his also extensive Kachina collection of the Pueblo tribe of the Hopi available on loan, so that some of them could be viewed publicly for the first time on various occasions. For the 2014 Friedrichshafen exhibition of the gallery owner Bernd Lutze with 60 Kachina figures, the Volkens private collection, along with the Antes Foundation, provided most of the works on display ; this was probably the first Hopi Kachina exhibition in Germany.

To mark its provenance , his friend Horst Antes designed a personal collector's stamp especially for Volkens.
