history

In old documents the village is called Volcoltshusen, Volcoltishusyn, Voccoltishysyn. Perhaps it got its name from a Volcolt (Folger), a Frankish settler. The place was mentioned for the first time in 1198. Up to this year the priest of Maßbach had been awarded three parts of the tithe from Voccoltishysyn and Mattenhusyn ( Madenhausen ) from the St. Stephen's monastery in Würzburg . Abbot Gerold of St. Stephen's Monastery awarded two tithes of this to the monastery keeper Wolfger von Hohenburg (Homburg).

The Church of the Conception of Mary was built as a chapel in 1950.

On January 1, 1972, Volkershausen was incorporated into Maßbach.
