Karl Krieger, a businessman, was chosen as the treasurer. The first chairman of the supervisory board was the farmer and member of the state parliament, Emil Ege . The founding members came mainly from Möckmühl, but also from the surrounding towns, which are now part of the business area of Volksbank Möckmühl eG.

After the bank was founded in Möckmühl, cooperative banks were also founded in the surrounding towns and communities around 20 years later. So in Widdern (1895), Roigheim (1892), Gochsen (1898), Cleversulzbach, Kochertürn and Lampoldshausen (1899), Degmarn (1901), Kochersteinsfeld and Züttlingen (1902), Jagsthausen (1903), Brettach (1904) and Siglingen ( 1906). The current office in Neuenstadt was created by relocating the headquarters of the Cleversulzbach savings and loan fund to Neuenstadt, which operated there as Raiffeisenbank Neuenstadt from 1968.

Between 1968 and 1973, the surrounding Raiffeisen banks merged with the Volksbank in the Jagst and Seckach valleys, which from 1973 traded as Volksbank Möckmühl -Raiffeisen- und Volksbank- eG. In the Kochertal, the mergers to form Raiffeisenbank Kochertal took place from 1968 onwards, which was joined by Raiffeisenbank Gochsen in 1991 as the last bank.

The merger of Volksbank Möckmühl eG and Raiffeisenbank Neuenstadt eG to form Volksbank Möckmühl-Neuenstadt eG finally took place in 1994.

In May 2018, the members of Volksbank Möckmühl-Neuenstadt eG and Raiffeisenbank Neudenau-Stein-Herbolzheim eG voted for a merger of the two institutes under the name Volksbank Möckmühl eG . On July 12, 2018, Raiffeisenbank Neudenau-Stein-Herbolzheim eG was deleted from the commercial register and the merger to form Volksbank Möckmühl eG was entered.
