history
The establishment took place in 1902 as "general savings and credit cooperative GmbH". In 1908 the bank was renamed "Gewerbebank eGmbH". In 1934 she took over the "Mittelstandsbank". In 1939 it was renamed “Volksbank Wolfenbüttel”. In 1943, on the instructions of the state government, the commercial bank was merged with the “Spar- und Kreditskasse eGmbH”. In 1974 the bank was named "Volksbank Wolfenbüttel eG".
In 1982 and 1989 the “Waren-Kredit-Genossenschaft Nordharz” and “Volksbank Asse” were taken over, and in 2001 the Volksbank am Elm. With the merger of the “Volksbank Wolfenbüttel” and the “Raiffeisen-Volksbank Salzgitter”, the “Volksbank Wolfenbüttel-Salzgitter” was created in 1997. In 2016, the merger with the Volksbanken Vechelde-Wendeburg and Helmstedt to form Volksbank Wolfenbüttel , based in Wolfenbüttel.
