Lewinski is the name of an old Pomerellian - Kashubian noble family .

origin

The gender was originally called Royk . Under Polish rule it took over the name of its long-standing estate Lewyn (today Lewino ), for which the first Polish king Sigismund I had confirmed his hereditary noble possession to a Jakob Royk in 1526 :

“Date est privilegium nobilibus [...] Jacobo heredibus de villa Lewyn in terra Pomoraniae et districtu Mirochoviensi sitta”

- Crown matriculation No. 42 f. 125 of July 28, 1526, "Privilegium nobilium super bona Lewyn".

In the 16th and 17th centuries, the family then bore the double name of Royk Lewinski . As the last of his family, an Andreas Royk is mentioned in 1662 as a taxpayer in Lewino. While one of his two sons settled in Kositzkowo and his descendants can be traced back to the 20th century, the other and his descendants lived on other property in Lebno and later in Tockar, Karthaus / West Prussia . The last of this family branch, born in Dargelow in 1747 , left Kashubia and entered Prussian service. At the beginning of the 18th century, only the name Lewinski appears in the documents .
