Eduard Julius Ludwig von Lewinski
Eduard Julius August Ludwig von Lewinski (born February 22, 1829 in Münster , † September 15, 1906 in Burgwitz near Trebnitz ) was a Prussian artillery general .
Life
origin
Eduard came from the noble family Lewinski . He was the son of Lieutenant Colonel a. D. August Jakob von Lewinski (born February 14, 1791 in Neustadt near Danzig ; † August 27, 1870 in Berlin ) and his wife Charlotte Wilhelmine, née Seydel (born November 18, 1804 in Minden ; † February 28, 1869 in Berlin) . His younger brother Alfred also became a Prussian general.
Military career
Lewinski attended school in Krotoschin and was then educated in the Wahlstatt and Berlin cadet institutions . On May 2, 1846, he was transferred to the 6th Infantry Regiment of the Prussian Army as a porter ensign.
In war, German-Danish War in 1864 was Lewinski as captain chief of the 1st Guard fortress company that participated in the storming of the Diippel part and distinguished himself like this that the Order his Pour le Mérite was awarded. In the German War of 1866 he was used in the staff of the 1st Army . In 1867 Lewinski was transferred to the General Staff as a major and participated in the Franco-German War of 1870/71, first in the staff of the 1st Army and then as chief quartermaster of the Southern Army . In 1871 he became chief of the general staff of the IX. Army Corps and, in 1872, Lieutenant Colonel and Commander of Artillery Regiment No. 24 . In 1877 he became the commander of the 2nd Field Artillery Brigade and in this capacity was promoted to major general on June 12, 1880 . Almost four years later, he was appointed inspector of the 2nd Field Artillery Inspection and on September 16, 1885, he was promoted to lieutenant general .
In 1889 Lewinski became the commanding general of VI. Army Corps and promoted to General of Artillery in 1890. On February 21, 1895 Lewinski was put up for disposal with a pension . After his death on September 19, 1906, he was buried in Breslau.
family
Lewinski married on December 30, 1858 in Mainz with Philippine Karoline Agnes Nanne (born November 3, 1835 in Bederkesa , † August 11, 1869 in Neisse ). After her death, he married Helene Pauline von Sperling on February 14, 1872 in Dresden (born June 29, 1847 in Erfurt , † November 20, 1910 in Oberschreiberhau ). She was the daughter of the Prussian major general Oskar von Sperling . The following children emerged from the marriages:
