Voodoo People was the ninth single release by the English big beat and breakcore band The Prodigy . It was released in August 1994 .

publication

The title was the third single from the album Music For The Jilted Generation . It was also released as a 12 "single and in the US as an EP on the Mute Records label.

On the British release there was a remix by The Chemical Brothers , who at that time were still named after the well-known US duo The Dust Brothers . Due to the single release and its burgeoning popularity, the American Dust Brothers threatened legal action, whereupon the English duo renamed themselves The Chemical Brothers in 1995 and the remix on the Mute release in the USA was renamed. A short sample in the remix was also changed in the American version.

Music video

The video was produced under Walter Stern and recorded in Haiti .

Samples

The basic riff is based on a sample by the band Nirvana from the song Very Ape from their third studio album In Utero .

successes

The title failed to reach top 10 positions in the general singles charts: No.13 in the United Kingdom, No.20 in the Netherlands, No.24 in Australia, No.26 in Belgium, No.32 in Sweden and No.36 in Switzerland.
