More than 750 audio books (as of October 2015) are available for free download as MP3 files on the vorleser.net website . In 2005 the online offer was nominated for the Grimme Online Award in the culture and entertainment category.

The vorleser.net audio book program currently includes around 200 (as of October 2015) classical and contemporary authors with fairy tales (including Brothers Grimm , Hans Christian Andersen ), short stories (including Franz Kafka , Edgar Allan Poe , Arthur Schnitzler ) and poems ( including Joachim Ringelnatz , Johann Wolfgang von Goethe , Rainer Maria Rilke ). In its own studio in Leipzig , the operator produces the supplies with a group of professional speakers. The speakers who have been hired for vorleser.net so far also include actors known from other sources such as Claus Boysen , Oliver Rohrbeck and Hanno Friedrich .

Vorleser.net has distributed millions of mp3 files for free since December 2003; Every month over 150,000 visitors from all over the world are counted, who download up to 1000 hours of audio books daily.
