Vorm Eichholz is located in the south of the residential area Grifflenberg in the Elberfeld district at an altitude of 295  m above sea level. NHN above the Gelpetals . State road 418 runs west of the village . To the east, Vorm Eichholz borders the site of the former Sagan barracks , which is now used as a technology center and the German headquarters of the Delphi Corporation . Also to the east is the extensive allotment garden of the same name Vorm Eichholz .

In addition to old courtyard buildings, Vorm Eicholz consists of several single-family houses and the former grain distillery K. & H. Köhler .

history

The place emerged from a court that was first mentioned in 1567 as Eickholt . The farm belonged to the Elberfeld parish in the Bergisches Amt Elberfeld . On the Topographia Ducatus Montani by Erich Philipp Ploennies from 1715, the place is recorded as Eichholt . In 1815/16 the place had 26 inhabitants.

In 1832 the place belonged to the wood and Eichholzer Rotte of the rural outskirts of the parish and the city of Elberfeld . Which according to the statistics and topography of the district of Dusseldorf as Ackergut categorized place had at that time three houses and seven farm buildings. At that time, 25 residents lived in the place, three of them Catholic and 22 Protestant denominations. In 1888, four houses with 32 inhabitants are listed in the community encyclopedia of the Rhine Province .
