Vreni Hubmann (born Verena Hubmann ) (* 15. May 1944 in Kreuzlingen , Switzerland ; heimatberechtigt Bichelsee-Balterswil and Zurich ) is a Swiss former teacher and politician ( SP ).

Life

Vreni Hubmann grew up with her three older siblings in Kreuzlingen. She went to the seminar in Kreuzlingen . She then studied language at the University of Zurich , in Florence and in Sorbonne in Paris . Due to her interest in the positions of the 1968 movement , she studies at the Institut d'études politiques de Paris . From 1974, she taught French and Italian at the district school Rämibühl while studying at the University of Zurich Law . In 1976 she was elected as the first woman to be the main teacher at the Gymnasium Rämibühl. She received her doctorate in law in 1990. In 2009, Hubmann retired. She lives in Zurich.

In 1977 Hubmann joined the District 4 section of the SP City of Zurich. From 1982 to 1995 she represented District 4 on the City Council of Zurich and was City Council President from 1990 to 1991. From 1991 to 1995 she was President of the Trade Union Confederation of the City of Zurich. In 1994 Hubmann ran for the city ​​council . In 1995 she was elected to the National Council. During her entire tenure, she was a member of the State Political Commission and presided over it from 1999 to 2001. In 2002 she also became a member of the Legal Commission and in 2003 of the Pardon and Rehabilitation Commission. In the Swiss parliamentary elections in 2007 it was no longer confirmed. As a national councilor, her focus was on socio-political issues, patient rights and asylum and immigration policy.
