The 48th Vuelta a Costa Rica (officially: Vuelta a Costa Rica Kölbi ) took place from December 17th to 29th, 2012 in Costa Rica .

The race was part of the 2013 UCI America Tour , where it was classified in category 2.2 . The first eight drivers in the overall standings and the first three of each stage as well as those wearing the yellow jersey of the overall leader received points for the America ranking list after each stage.

Overall winner of the stage race was Óscar Sánchez (GW Shimano-Colombia). He won with a 54-second lead over the second-placed winner of the junior competition, Roman Villalobos from Junta de Protección Social-Giant. The podium was completed by Fabricio Quirós (BCR-Pizza Hut-Powerade). Sánchez also won mountains and points .

Attendees

Five local Costa Rican teams and five foreign teams from Colombia , Chile , Cuba and Guatemala competed . Continental teams and German-speaking drivers did not take part.
