Vynen [ˈfɪnən] or [ˈfiːnən] is a district of Xanten and forms the district of Vynen / Obermörmter with Obermörmter and the surrounding area .
geography
Vynen is located in the Lower Rhine plain west of Wesel . In the east it borders on the "Xanten North Sea", part of the Xanten leisure center . The north of Vynen is bounded by the Rhine , which also forms the basis of the Gut Grindt and Rheinaue nature reserves .
history
The founding of Vynens goes back to the foundation of the common church of St. Martin of the farmers "Vinen" (from this the later place name Vynen developed), Broechem (later Marienbaum ) and Gesthuysen, which took place as early as the 11th century . However, there are records showing that the region of today's Vynens was already settled in Roman times and that there were trade relations with Colonia Ulpia Traiana .
Vynen belonged to the Duchy of Kleve for about 600 years , then for a short time to the Prussian administrative district of Kleve and, from 1821, to the administrative district of Düsseldorf . There, the municipality of Vynen in the former districts of Rheinberg , Geldern and Moers belonged to the Marienbaum mayor. In 1934 Vynen was incorporated into Marienbaum. As part of Marienbaum, Vynen came to the city of Xanten on July 1, 1969, which has been part of the newly founded Wesel district since January 1, 1975 .
In Vynen there is a primary school supported by a development association, which is named after the patron saint of the church. In 2006/07, 104 pupils attended the Martinschule, where five teachers work. a. a school kitchen, a gymnasium, a playground and rooms for the supervision of “school from eight to one”, “13 plus” and since the 2007/08 school year also homework supervision.
