The Vysotskiy Peak ( Russian Гора Высоцкого Gora Wyssozkowo , German 'Wyssozkiberg' ; Norwegian Vysockijfjellet ) is a 2035 m high mountain in the East Antarctic Queen Maud Land . In the Alexander von Humboldt Mountains of the Wohlthat massif, it rises above the Schüssel moraine in the northern part of the Gorki Ridge .
The mountain was discovered and mapped using aerial photographs during the German Antarctic Expedition (1938–1939) under the direction of Alfred Ritscher . Further mapping was carried out using aerial photographs and measurements taken by the Third Norwegian Antarctic Expedition (1956–1960). Soviet scientists re-mapped and named between 1960 and 1961. It is named after the Russian or Soviet geographer Grigori Nikolajewitsch Vysotsky (1865–1940). In 1970, the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names adapted the Russian name to English.
