Vytautas Sondeckis

Vytautas Sondeckis (born June 9, 1972 in Vilnius ) is a Lithuanian cellist living in Germany .

Life

Sondeckis is the son of the conductor and university teacher Saulius Sondeckis and the cellist and professor Silvija Sondeckienė . He received piano lessons from the age of 5 and began playing the cello a year later. He began his cello studies in Vilnius with Romanas Armonas . Sondeckis graduated from the Central Music School at the Saint Petersburg Conservatory , where he then studied with Anatoli Nikitin for two years . Because of the damp weather in the Russian city, he returned to Lithuania and was tutored by his mother. In 1990 he completed master classes with David Geringas , with whom he studied at the Lübeck University of Music from 1993 .

In 1991 Sondeckis won the International Adam Cello Competition in New Zealand . He has given concerts in Europe, Asia and America.

Since 1997 Sondeckis has been the deputy solo cellist with the NDR Symphony Orchestra in Hamburg . He also plays in the string quartet "The G-Strings" and has long-term collaborations with "EMI Elektrola" and the German record company Naxos .

Discography

Sondeckis has some CD recordings. At Discorsi CD he played with David Geringas (2009), with the Chamber Orchestra of Lithuania and others. Vytautas Sondeckis has also recorded the music of the Lithuanian composer Bronius Kutavičius .
