The Wülfeler bread factory Georg Fiedeler KG in Hanover was the oldest bread factory in the Hanover area and one of the first bakeries in Germany to mechanize bread baking.

history

The company was based in Hanover-Wülfel on Hildesheimer Chaussee and emerged from a bakery of the Fiedeler family that had existed since 1810. In 1897 it was entered in the commercial register of Hanover by Georg Fiedeler (1866–1939) . In 1912 a biscuit and rusks factory was added. In 1920 a mill in Elze, the Saalemühle, was bought. The mechanization of bread-baking by the company was trend-setting in the time of the German Empire , which gave the company an international reputation. In 1939 the company had 28 branches and 150 employees under the management of Rolf Fiedeler. The company suffered considerable damage during the Second World War; Company owner Rolf Fiedeler was also killed. In the 1950s there were numerous branches again, without the company being able to build on the successes of the pre-war period. The closure came in 1978.
