The three kilometer long Wümbach is a left tributary of the Ilm in Thuringia.

The stream after crossing under the L 2646

course

It rises in Schmidtsteich im Eichicht , a pine forest between Ilmenau and the village of Wümbach named after it . In this village it takes up a brook flowing into it from the left, then forms two fish ponds at the eastern end of the village and continues to flow in a straight line in a north-easterly direction. After 810 m, another stream flows into the water from the left, which now forms the three shepherd ponds . Here the 570 m long Wümbachtalbrücke spans the Bachtal between the village of Wümbach and Gräfinau-Angstedt . The bridge is part of the Erfurt-Ebensfeld high-speed line . The Wümbach flows south of the center of Gräfinau-Angstedt into the Ilm.
